An ambitious family theme park and holiday resort will be created on the former Pit House West site near Rother Valley Country Park in South Yorkshire’s Green Belt by Gullivers. When complete the new resort will include a theme park hub, woodland adventure centre, ‘glamping’ and woodland lodges, a hotel and holiday village. The practice worked with the team to demonstrate the positive effects of the scheme; the vision being for a ‘whole park feel’ by working with the existing landscape elements of the site to create nature trails, walks, outdoor gyms and woodland runs as well as the theme park offer in the interest of guests and the local community alike.
The first phase of development started in October 2018 and will be the theme park hub and associated areas including rides, attractions, shows and experiences for children up to 13, plus ancillary attractions such as Splash Zone and Nerf Zone areas. The practice assisted throughout the planning phase including the Discharge of Conditions and input into a Local Development Order for operations moving forward.
