Project Type: Leisure & Corporate / Public Realm
This 70,000 sqft project for Seven Capital will complete the urban block on a stand-alone island site and utilise in part the original facade of a late Victorian warehouse. The conversion of the Grade II Listed Building to a 125 bed boutique hotel has started on site with XQLA working to develop and deliver the mixed use site on Great Eastern Street. The practice’s role expanded from courtyard delivery to include public realm technical packages to discharge planning conditions and streetscene design. This required close liaison with dual stakeholders Hackney Borough Council and Transport for London to achieve detailed interventions needed to meet the red route status of Great Eastern Street whilst working in a centreal London Conservation Area.
