Working with Denton Corker Marshall and ISG, the exhibition centre and hotel development brings completion to the jigsaw of the wider King’s Waterfront development area and a major new visitor destination for Liverpool. Design proposals for a shared-surface plaza required consensus building between the project team and LPA on complex matters such as accessibility and the integration of security and traffic management measures within public realm.
A sculptural plinth provides spatial definition to the waterfront and a setting for the elegant simplicity of the building, whilst bringing cohesion to a diverse range of public realm conditions presented at interfaces with adjoining areas.
